Earl Grey – Black Tea with Bergamot 125g

4.58 5.48  excl. VAT

Earl Grey owes its characteristic taste and aroma mainly to the essential oil of bergamot, and more specifically – Bergamot Orange (Citrus Bergamium), which is combined with the finest quality black tea from Ceylon.

Bergamot probably comes from India, but is now grown primarily in Italy. Its fruits have a sour taste and a very intense, characteristic smell – their peel, flowers and leaves are used to produce an essential oil, used not only for tea, but also in the perfume industry and in aromatherapy – due to its anti-depressant properties. It is worth knowing that bergamot orange is not the same as bergamot – that is, the scarlet macaw, which is a decorative perennial with an equally intense aroma, reminiscent of the essential oils obtained from bergamot.

The name “Earl Grey” is associated with several legends about its genesis, but the most popular and widely accepted is the story of Charles Grey, who received, on a diplomatic trip, tea flavored with bergamot oil from a Chinese imperial official, in thanks for saving his son by one from Grey’s men.

It is a single brew tea, but many of you may also be satisfied with the second brew. The brewing time is 2-3 minutes, the temperature is typical for black teas – 95 ° C.

Every one of our teas can be bought in an aesthetic can or as a refill in a cellophane bag for a slightly lower price. Both of these options contain 125g of tea. It’s a leaf tea, so you might need a tea brewer »
